BELIZE CITY, Mon. May 8, 2023

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) U-13 Mundialito 2023 continued with Week 3 games on Saturday at the Berger Field, where a number of scheduled games were decided on technical violations, rather than on goals scored on the field. Rules are rules, but it spoils the fun for fans and players alike. Let’s get it right, folks.

In the male opener, Belize United won on a technicality (3-0) over Face of Belize who reportedly had “played an ineligible player.”

Next was a female game, where Millenium Academy also was awarded the win (3-0) because Queen Square FC “played an ineligible player.”

Then in the males, Queen Square FC won (3-0) over Pickstock who forfeited the match.

In the scheduled game 4 of the day at 11:25 a.m., a female encounter, Royal Fusion crushed Salvation United, 8-0, with goals from Amina Burgess (2), Shannalee Smith (2), Jahxann Waight (3) and Aneeke Meza (1).

The big male showdown followed at 12:05 p.m., and it was Tutbay Yabra coming away with the 5-1 victory over Smart Brown Bombers. Tutbal got a goal each from Ali Thurton, Breylin Middleton, Kyrone Martinez and Khayri Martin along with an own goal by Bombers’ Edson Ferguson. The Bombers only good goal was by Demareon Augustine.

Next was a female match ending in a 1-1 draw between Holy Redeemer and Unity Presbyterian. Erelyn Noble shook the net for Holy Redeemer, while Janet Castillo split the uprights for Unity Presbyterian.

In the male game that followed, it was Ladyville Rising Stars gaining the 2-1 win over Sampson Academy. Zion Gibson and Nigel Hulse tallied for Rising Stars, while Ethan Lewis got the lone goal for Sampson Academy.

And in the final game of the day, the boys of Hattieville United prevailed, 4-1, over Leaders of Tomorrow with 2 goals apiece from Amir Ahmad (2) and Trevis Carillo (2).
