The Belize Police Department has arrested and charged a teenager who is believed to be the gunman who executed Trenton Webster, 42, last Thursday, October 19, on Rasta Street.
On the night of the shooting, sometime after 8:00 p.m., Webster had been at his home, off Central American Boulevard near 88 Shopping Center, where he and his fiancée had resided for the past few months after relocating from the Kings Park area. He had sent someone to a nearby store to purchase some items for him, and when Webster noticed that they were taking too long, he went outside and stood under a lamppost, where, it is believed, Anthony fired a barrage of bullets at him.
Webster was hit approximately 6 times in his upper body and died at the scene.
The accused teen, 18-year-old Dorian Anthony, who is a relative of Webster’s fiancée and lives in the same yard in which the couple resided, had reportedly been involved in a confrontation with Webster over loud music he (Anthony) had been playing, two days before Webster was killed, and during that confrontation Anthony had reportedly threatened to kill him (Webster).
Anthony was found by police in Roaring Creek Village, Cayo District, and on Wednesday, October 25, he appeared unrepresented in the Magistrate’s Court in Belize City, where no plea was taken, and bail was denied. He was thus remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 28.
Earlier in the year, in July, Anthony had also been tried in court after being jointly charged along with another teen with the murder of Emert Flowers, 61, which was committed in late December of last year. However, the case was withdrawn due to insufficient evidence.
