BELIZE CITY, Wed. May 21, 2025

Tut Bay FC and Caesar Ridge FC are leading Belize District Football Association (BDFA) First Division 2024-2025 Closing Season with big wins in the 7th and final week of regular season at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City last Sunday evening, May 18.

In Game 1, Reggae Boyz secured their playoff berth as they enjoyed their 3rd win, 2-0, over Kelly Street Bombers, for whom it was their 3rd loss. Keiffer “Beefy” Perteau and Jaheem “Hammer” Thomas delivered the winning goals. The Bombers refreshed their offensive line with Zaahir Martin and Derrick Engleton as they tried for the equalizer goals, but the Reggae Boys refreshed their defensive line with Dejean Thompson, Clinton Dawson, Isani Napata, Ami Chuc; and player coach Ryan Simpson, replacing Trey Gentle, Marco Nuñez, Brandon Myers, Keiffer and Thomas, to help goalkeeper Edward Humes secure the 2-0 win. Thus, the Reggae Boyz qualify as the No.3 seed with 10 pts from 3 wins and a draw, with zero goal difference, while Kelly Street squeaks in as the No.4 seed with 9 pts from 3 wins and 3 losses.

In Game 2, undefeated Tut Bay secured their berth as the No.1 seed by goal difference, as they marched over Old Road Defenders, 9-1, led by Tom Moguel’s brace (6’ & 14’) and Calvin Thurton’s brace (46’ & 85’). Other goals came by Kevaughn “Poty” Tablada, Raymond “Juny” Gentle (49’), Edmund “Bagga” Sanker (68’), Khambrel Blease (77’) and Ken Galvez (81’). Only Kenroy McCord (28’ PK) converted a penalty for Old Road. Ronald Flores and Tyrone Guy had come off the bench to refresh Tut Bay’s offensive, and Galvez and Blease also joined the fray off the bench.

In Game 3, undefeated Caesar Ridge FC got the easy bye to their 4th win, (3-0), over Hattieville United who did not have enough players to start the game, and did not take the field. Caesar Ridge had one remaining back match against Reggae Boyz, which has not been played. Thus, Caesar Ridge qualify to the playoffs as the No. 2 seed with 13 pts from 4 wins, 1 draw and a +12 goal-difference. The back match would not alter the rankings, as even if Reggae Boyz were to win, CRFC has a much better goal differential. If CRFC were to win, they would need to win by more than 9 goals to bump Tut Bay out of the top spot.
