Antigua’s Starret Greene is new OAS rep in Belize

Since July 1, 2014, Starret Greene of Antigua has been serving as the new representative of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Belize.

Greene succeeds Juliet Phillip, who had been serving in Belize since last January. Greene concluded his last assignment as the OAS rep in St. Kitts and Nevis at the end of June 2014, and immediately moved over to Belize.

In a story published by National Broadcasting Corporation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Greene was quoted as saying that he realizes that his work would be more challenging in Belize.

“It’s a bigger country than St. Kitts. There are more people to know than in St. Kitts, but it will be a challenge, I believe. New experiences, the issues are different, the challenges are bigger and that means I’ll have to work harder and longer, but I’m going with the experience I gained. I’m going, too, with the goodwill and I think I will be able to bring to bear the experience I was able to develop and the knowledge that I gained as well,” Greene said.

A biographical summary which Amandala obtained from the website of the OAS says that Greene was born in Bethesda Village, Antigua, and he began serving in the Foreign Service in 1986. He started serving as the OAS’s rep in St. Kitts and Nevis in 2006.

Terrence Craig, who had served as the OAS rep in Grenada, was previously asked to serve in Belize. However, at the time we last spoke with Craig, those plans had not been firmed up. The West Indian News Network reports that Craig will now replace Greene in Grenada.
