Police are seeking two thieves who robbed a Chinese store, Kenny Store, and got away with over $6,600 in cash and valuables, including two laptop computers and an I-phone yesterday morning.
Xiang Rong Chen told police that about 8:00 yesterday morning, he and his worker were in his store when two men entered. One was armed with a pistol, and the other had a knife.
The thief with the pistol pointed the gun at Chen and demanded money. Fearing for his life, Chen handed over $2,000 in cash and a Belize Bank cheque in the amount of $380.
The gunman then took them to another area in the store, while the robber with the knife ransacked the area near the cash register and under the counter, and found more cash amounting to $300.
The thieves then stole a Mitsubishi laptop valued at $1,300, a black laptop for boledo sales, valued at $1,500, and a black I-phone valued at $1,200, which was on the counter – all of which totaled $6,680 in value. The thieves then escaped out of the store.
Police conducted a search in the area, but could not find the thieves.
The police remind the public that it is an offense to be found with stolen goods. Anyone who has information that can lead to the capture of the thieves, or that can lead to the recovery of the items, is urged to call the nearest police station, or the San Ignacio Police at 804 – 2022.
