Corozal police are seeking two thieves from Cayo to charge them for robbery and aggravated assault with a firearm after the two bandits robbed Chong Sang Supermarket, located on College Road in Corozal, at gunpoint, and got away with over $800 and 9 cell phones of various brands.
The incident occurred about 1:30 Saturday afternoon. Chinese businessman Jian Chang, 40, told police that at that time two armed men entered his store, both wearing caps on their heads.
Both men pointed their guns at the Chinese worker who was behind the counter at the time. One of the bandits held the worker at gunpoint, while the other went behind the counter and stole all the money that was in the cash drawer, along with 9 cell phones that were in the area of the counter.
The thieves then ran out of the store and escaped into the surrounding area.
Police went to the store after receiving a report of the incident, but could not find the robbers. After investigating, however, they identified the thieves as being from the Cayo area.
