CrimeEaster Sunday shooting in Cayo leaves 1 hospitalized

A 23-year old man was seriously injured after he was shot twice in San Ignacio, Cayo, in the wee hours of Easter Sunday while heading home with a female friend.

San Ignacio police reported that on Sunday, April 20, they visited 2nd Street in San Ignacio Town at 3:10 a.m., where they saw a man known to them as Trevor Lamb, 23, suffering from two apparent gunshot wounds to the left side of his body – one in the rib cage area and one in the left upper arm.

An initial investigation into the matter revealed that on Sunday at 3:00 a.m., Lamb was walking along with a female friend when they were approached by a man who fired at him and then ran away.

Lamb was immediately transported to the San Ignacio Town Community Hospital for medical attention, but has since been transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City and is currently listed in a stable condition.

Amandala spoke to Inspector Reymundo Reyes, the Deputy Officer in Charge of the San Ignacio Police Formation, who told us that police are diligently investigating the shooting incident, but have not yet tracked down the suspect.

Reyes informed us that investigators are working on establishing a motive for the crime, and that they are scheduled to meet with the victim in order to procure a statement which should assist them with their investigations.
