ST. MARGARET, Cayo District, Mon. Sept. 26, 2016–Football players from Benque Viejo Del Carmen Town were injured after a vehicle in which they were travelling yesterday ran off the road and overturned.

Six of the players of the sixteen were seriously hurt, while the others suffered varying degrees of injury. The players were all taken to the Western Regional Hospital, where they were treated and released, but one player was admitted in a serious but stable condition.

The team was travelling from Benque Viejo to St. Margaret to play a football match, but upon their arrival at a curve, a vehicle that was overtaking another vehicle while coming down the hill caused the driver to swerve to avoid a collision, causing the vehicle in which the players were traveling to run off the road and overturn.

Police and an ambulance responded to the accident, and transported the players to the Western Regional Hospital.
