Mendez told the court that he couldn’t remember grabbing the woman’s buttocks, because he was drunk

Jose Lorenzo Mendez, 32, a resident of #74 East Collet Canal, is spending his first night in prison after he pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault of an indecent nature charge.

The facts revealed that at 6:25 yesterday evening, Mendez was on a Haylock Bus, at the Pallotti roundabout, when he allegedly grabbed a woman’s buttocks.

When the woman turned around, she saw that it was a Hispanic man with an artificial left arm who had touched her inappropriately.

She reported the matter to police and they were able to apprehend Mendez, who was positively identified by the woman.

When asked if he had anything to say, Mendez told the court that he couldn’t remember what happened because he was drunk at the time, and wanted to know if the woman was in the court so he could apologize to her.

He also told the court that he has a drinking problem and needs help.

Magistrate Dale Cayetano then sentenced Mendez to six months in prison for his crime.
