LADYVILLE, Belize District, Mon. Dec. 3, 2018– At about 11:30 this morning, Lionel Bennet, 16, of Lake Gardens, Ladyville, was swimming in a pond in the area when he sank under the surface of the water and did not resurface. Police were called and a search was made for him in the pond. During that search, his body was recovered.

During the weekly police press brief held this morning, Inspector Wilfred Ferufino said that police were alerted that a person who was swimming in a Ladyville pond had not emerged from the water after going under the water’s surface. The Deputy Commander said that police went to the area and began the search and found the body. He said that no other information was available.
