CrimeMan, 40, exposes himself on church compound and threatens to rape woman, 64

Eduardo Grant, 40, a laborer of Concepcion, Corozal, was on Monday ordered by the Corozal Magistrate’s Court to pay a fine of $300 forthwith, or he would have to serve 3 months in prison on charges of indecent exposure. He could not pay the fine and will be taken to jail to spend the prison sentence.

Grant was held by the family of a 64-year-old woman, after he pulled his pants down to his knees and showed his member to her, and threatened to rape her on a church compound in Corozal at about 8:00 Saturday morning.

The woman told police that she was at the Corozal Town Catholic Church compound on 1st Street South, when a man, unknown to her, approached her and asked her if the priest was there because he needed assistance.

She answered that he, the priest, would be down shortly, and that was when the man told her that he did not want assistance from the priest, and that he wanted to rape her.

According to the woman, the man then took down his pants and held his member in his hands and told her that he was ready. The woman reported that she quickly shoved him, causing him to fall down, because his pants, which were down on his knees, tripped him.

The woman ran into the church and locked the door. The man tried to kick down the door, but the door held.

According to Que Pasa Corozal, a newspaper of Corozal Town dated today, Wednesday, the woman called 911 seeking assistance from police, but the police did not respond because the police officer who took the emergency call did not understand Spanish. Que Pasa reported that the woman was rescued shortly after when people came to the church, for mass, but by that time the man had already left the church area.

The woman told her family what happened and they went in search of the man, who was known to them as Eduardo Grant. They found him in the town, and they carried out a citizen’s arrest and took him to the Corozal Police Station, where they handed him over to the police.

Grant was taken to court, where he pleaded guilty to the offense.
