Police looking for suspect in hit-and-run

CrimePolice looking for suspect in hit-and-run
Ladyville police say they know who knocked down and killed Los Lagos resident Roldan Trapp, 38, and continue to look for him at press time.

Officially, investigations continue, and Ladyville police today declined to release specifics about the individual they are looking for, as they say that the warrant for his arrest has not yet been completed.

Around 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, Trapp was riding a bicycle between Miles 11 and 12 on the Northern Highway in the direction of Ladyville, when the driver of a Ford Ranger pickup knocked him down in the process of trying to overtake another vehicle, a Ford Escort.

The Ranger’s driver, apparently speeding at the time of the incident, failed to stop and render aid and instead fled the scene.

Trapp was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.

Failure to stop and render aid is an offence under Belize’s traffic laws, as is fleeing the scene of an accident, and police have impounded the suspect’s vehicle and continue to look for him.
