Police question wife over husband’s stabbing death

GeneralPolice question wife over husband’s stabbing death
Audrey Morgan (nee McKay), 24, a traffic officer, is in police custody at Queen Street as a suspect in an early morning murder, in which the victim is her husband, security guard Albert Morgan, Jr., 26.

The couple, who had been together for six years, married only just this year and have a son, 5, and a daughter, 2, and they lived in an elevated wooden house at #6743 North Creek Road.

The initial police report stated that at around 2:00 a.m. today, “… the victim was inside his home when an unknown male person (man) entered and inflicted the fatal injuries,” two stab wounds in the left side of the chest and left upper arm.

Audrey Morgan, family members living in the yard tell us, made that report this morning to police. But there appears to be much more to the story, as we found out this afternoon.

Amandala has received reports, however, that the initial report to police may have been incorrect, and that in fact, no one had entered the house.

Superintendent of Police and Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigation Branch, Julio Valdez, this evening in response to our queries, would only tell Amandala that Morgan is being questioned in connection with her husband’s stabbing death and is “a suspect,” but that they have ruled nothing out.

The family says the couple had a history of violent confrontations in which she would be regularly beaten up and left with “black eyes,” and that they had fought only last week.

No one we spoke to heard or saw anything this morning, and it is not known where the children were at the time of the stabbing.

A post-mortem has been conducted at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, and the family says the funeral will be held on Saturday at St. John’s Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Belize City.
