Ray Davis to replace Paul Perriott as NTUCB Senator

FeaturesRay Davis to replace Paul Perriott as NTUCB Senator
The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has yet to decide who will be their new Senate representative, to replace Senator Godwin Hulse—the former private sector senator who will now sit in the Senate as a UDP appointee and more than that, the Leader of Government Business in the Senate.

In speaking with Amandala today, BCCI president Kay Menzies expressed congratulatory remarks of what she called “an elevation” for Senator Hulse, also now a minister of government; and she said she will look to see how much of what Senator Hulse has talked about over the years can be accomplished with his new appointment.

Menzies said that they only got the letter from the Governor-General yesterday, Wednesday, asking for their Senate nomination, and they will have a private sector senator by the time the ceremonial session of Parliament takes place next Wednesday, March 21.

Meanwhile, President of the National Trade Union Congress of Belize, Dylan Reneau, informed Amandala, when we contacted him today, that NTUCB’s past-president, Ray Davis, will be their new Senator, replacing Paul Perriott, who has been abroad for several months.

In a vote that took place in 2008, Davis had received the second highest votes to Perriott in a poll to determine who of three people would represent the trade unions in the Senate.
