Stabbed to death on Coney Drive

GeneralStabbed to death on Coney Drive

Edgar Salazar, 28, of Fabers Road Extension, was declared dead at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) about 15 minutes after he was stabbed during an altercation with some men after socializing at a bar, La Catracha, on Coney Drive.

Police say that at about 1:10 Sunday morning, Edgar Salazar was with some men at the bar when a fight broke out on the street in front of the bar between the group with which he was socializing and another group of men.

Salazar and his friends reportedly ran to escape their attackers, but some of the men chased the group and caught Salazar a short distance away.

One of the attackers, who was armed with a broken bottle, stabbed Salazar in the right lower back. He was then rushed to the KHMH, where he was declared dead not long after his arrival.

Police immediately launched an investigation, and detained five men.

Reports are that Salazar had been working in a business on 6th Street in the Kings Park area, and those who knew him said that he was a hard worker.

Salazar’s family members said that Salazar was not a troublemaker, and did not deserve the vicious attack that took his life. They are calling on the witnesses of the incident to cooperate with police in order to bring the man who killed Salazar to justice.

The body of Edgar Salazar has been deposited at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where it awaits a postmortem.

Salazar leaves behind a son, 5.
