Jason Gentle, 28, a.k.a. “Pussycat,” and Norman McKenzie, 17, were charged with the murder of Feron Felix, 16, when they appeared today in the #1 Magistrate’s Court.
Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie remanded them into custody at the Kolbe Foundation until Friday, December 21.
Felix, a resident of Gill Street and the son of Therese Felix, the vice-president of Mothers Organized for Peace, was shot and killed around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 1. He and a friend, Cordel Flowers, 19, were walking at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Fabers Road when his assailant, who apparently waited behind a concrete fence, fired about 15 shots at him.
Felix was shot in his back, abdomen and leg. He died from his injuries later the same night while undergoing treatment at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
Flowers was shot in his ankle. He was treated at KHMH and released.
Therese said that Feron was detained by the police on November 28, and before they released him they warned him about persons who, they said, were out to get him.
She said that Feron was at home watching television and the incident occurred when she sent him to a Chinese shop to buy.
Feron is Therese’s second son to die from gun violence. In May last year, an elder son, Tyrone “Shabba” Felix, was shot and killed at the corner of Fabers Road and Gill Street.
Last Thursday after Feron’s funeral, an angry crowd that had attended the funeral took sledgehammers and broke huge holes in the wall at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Fabers Road behind which Feron’s attacker had hid before shooting him.
