BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 25, 2021 –On Saturday, the University of Belize held its 28th commencement ceremony, at which they awarded almost 1000 graduates who completed five different levels of study at the institution.

In total, the national university awarded 445 Bachelor’s degrees, 491 Associate’s degrees, 24 Certificates, and 33 Master’s degrees at the ceremony this weekend.

A keynote address was delivered by the Minister of Education. Hon Francis Fonseca, and academic honors were given to 134 students: 8 Summa Cum Laude, 54 Magna Cum Laude, and 72 Cum Laude.

The top achievers were Chelsea Chaunelle Herrera, who was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry; Wilmer Cardoza, who received an Associate’s degree in Architecture; Wilford Williams, Jr. who received a Certificate in Primary Education; and Charles Ezeani, who got his Diploma in Education Methodology.

According to a release from the university, “Miss Chelsea Herrera also achieved the overall top academic honors for the entire graduating class of 2021 with a cumulative grade point average of 3.95. The Board of Trustees, Management, Faculty and Staff of the University of Belize take this opportunity to congratulate all graduates on their achievements.”
