Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2022-2023 Closing Season champions, Verdes FC were crushed, 5-0, by Motagua FC of Honduras in Concacaf play at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan yesterday evening. Their next outing will be against Alajuelense next Tuesday, August 8, again at 4:00 p.m. at the FFB Stadium. Better luck next time, guys!

PLB kicks off 2023-24 Opening Season

Meanwhile, this weekend, with all 4 games scheduled for Saturday, August 5, the PLB kicks off its 2023-2024 Opening Season. Last season’s sub-champs, San Pedro Pirates FC is sitting out this coming season, and Police United FC, which were combined last season with Benque Viejo United, has returned to action. See the Week 1 schedule below:

Saturday, August 5
4:00 p.m. – Verdes FC vs Benque United FC – Norman Broaster Stadium
7:30 p.m. – Altitude FC vs Port Layola FC – M.A. Stadium in Independence
7:30 p.m. – Progresso FC vs Bandits Sports – People’s Stadium
7:30 p.m. – Police United FC vs Wagiya SC – Marshalleck Stadium

Belize participates in Concacaf U15

From the FFB Facebook page we gather that the Belize U15 National Boys Team will be representing Belize in the upcoming Concacaf Boys’ U15 Championship in Curacao.

“The tournament is scheduled to run from August 6-13th with a total of 41 participating teams. The teams are ranked into three leagues that are then subdivided into groups. The Belize U15 boys National Team is ranked in League B group G and will be competing against Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Aruba.”
