The year has just begun, and I’m already angry at a lot of people. I’m angry at Joe Biden for clinging to power past his prime. I’m angry at Merritt Garland, Attorney General, for slow- walking the prosecution of the criminal Trump, until it was too late to avoid the coming catastrophe that will be with us for the next 4 years! I’m angry at the UDP for the chaos within their ranks during an election year. I’m angry that the genocide in Gaza and Sudan continues, while we stand aside and look. I’m angry that racism and misogyny and xenophobia are still a part of our daily life! I’m angry that I’m growing old and that my days are growing shorter. I’m angry that I am beginning the new year being angry!
I was watching the funeral of Jimmy Carter, the last of the greatest leaders. An honorable, gentle, honest, decent man, which is hard to say about any politician these days, in my opinion. He was maligned during his tenure as president, justifiably so, in some cases; but for the most part he accomplished a lot of the good. The Middle East Accord; returning the canal to the people of Panama! Preaching human rights to the world. And his post-presidency was unique. We have never seen any president give so much of themselves to the world, as a fellow citizen.
Now we are going back to the chaos and confusion and pettiness and hate and the whining of Donald Trump! I think we need him at this time, to show Americans what idiots they are. In what other universe would a convicted felon be elected to become the 47th president of the United States? I mean, seriously? Knowing who this man is, the voters preferred him to a qualified woman of color! Knowing him, they gave him a Republican Senate and House to do whatever he pleases with.
I hope he fulfills all of his promises, to make voters finally realize their stupidity in putting back this criminal into the Oval Office! I hope all those minorities who voted for him suffer the slings and arrows of his bigotry. I hope that when he crashes this growing economy, the billionaires and the rich suffer from their greed and excesses! I hope co-president Musk gets his comeuppance! I hope it gets so bad that Republicans will never be in charge again after this shitshow is over in 2028!
The rest of the world are laughing at us, while at the same time being scared of what this unhinged man might do to the stability of their countries, and to the world in general!
Jimmy Carter’s passing is much more than our just losing a good man. It is the passing of a time when we respected each other, when truth and honor and decency prevailed, or meant something! It is a passing of a time when we were confident that our future would be brighter, more optimistic, more inclusive! It is a passing of the time!
So, I’m angry, and I hope that I’m wrong. That this coming president will surprise us and be humble and kind and gracious and forgiving and stable! No, I’m angry again, because he will always be who he is!
