BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Feb. 15, 2018– Yolanda Bowman Nembhard, 61, a mother of 8 children and a grandmother, was found dead at about 3:30 this afternoon in front of the door of a room where she and her 64-year-old sister, Betty, reside on Regent Street West.

Betty, who was inside sleeping, was alerted by a male passerby. When she opened her door and came outside, she saw her sister lying on the ground with no clothes on, apparently dead.

In an interview with us this evening, Betty told us that her sister was mentally challenged, and that she had been ailing with an incurable disease. She had also contracted a condition on her right foot which had become swollen and was a source of pain to her. She said that despite her sister’s ailments, her death came as a shock to her.

A tearful Betty explained that she tried the best she could to help her sister, although she herself is unemployed. She said she made things to sell to earn her living. Betty said that she was feeling stressed last night, and she took some sleeping pills and went to bed.

When she awoke this morning, Yolanda was not in the room.

Betty said that she was in bed when she heard a man calling out to her that her sister was dead.

She said that due to Yolanda’s mental problems, Yolanda would go around picking up rubbish, and there were persons who took advantage of her.

She told us that she does not know where Yolanda’s children are, and she is in need of money, about $3,000, to cover the cost of burying her sister. Anyone who would like to help Betty in this trying time can contact her under Mike’s Club, where she lives.

Police have ruled out foul play and declared Yolanda’s demise a sudden death.
