BELIZE CITY—Two fifteen-year-old minors were remanded to the Wagner’s Youth Facility, located at the Belize Central Prison, after they were arraigned in the Belize Family Court today on a charge for a sexual offence against a 13-year-old girl.

No plea was taken from the two minors, because the offense is indictable and will be heard in the Supreme Court if a prima facie case is made out against the two accused after a preliminary inquiry is held at the lower court.

The two young men are expected to return to court on September 29.

The alleged victim is a 13-year-old girl who reported to police that on Friday night, August 8, she went to make a purchase at a Chinese shop, located at the corner of Caesar Ridge Road and Kraal Road.

While at the shop, one of the two boys, who is purportedly the girl’s boyfriend, introduced her to the other minor as his brother.

She then went to the house of the two brothers, where the alleged rape took place.

The girl told police that she had agreed to have sex with her “boyfriend,” however, the other minor forced himself upon her.

According to the minor, after the incident, she was allowed to leave the house. She told her mother about the incident, before it was reported to police.

It was determined that the two young men would be arraigned at the Family Court after it was ascertained that they were fifteen-years old.

They were read a single charge each of one count of sexual intercourse with a girl age 13.
