Excellence, who have been a disappointing show in the playoffs, went to bat first, and were only able to come up with 51 runs. Wicked Eleven had 50 runs with four outs, when the ball was hit into the infield. In an effort to get an out, an Excellence fielder tried to throw the runner out, but the ball sailed wide of the mark. Wicked Eleven then scored their 52nd run to win the game, losing only four wickets and having six to spare. Many cricket fans, after Excellence?s lackluster performance, were left wondering if this was truly a championship caliber team. One cricket aficionado in disgust said, ?How could they have possibly made it to the playoffs, much less the championship series, with the team they fielded?? In a post-game interview with Channel Five Television, Excellence field captain, Emmanuel McFadzean, said, ?We need to go back to the drawing board and bring back our captain, manager and everybody who played a part in this competition on our team ? so that next year we can improve, go back and get the championship for next year?s season.? With the win, Wicked Eleven are now back-to-back champs and are scheduled to receive their championship hardware Sunday, September 12, 2004 in Lords Bank when the champs are scheduled to take the pitch against an all-star selection or perhaps against the Belize National Cricket Team. According to Rudolph Anthony, the event will coincide with the National Independence Day Celebrations where they will have free food for all. Anthony also said that the Delmar Shield Competition that is being organized by the Belize National Cricket Association will soon be hosting games on Saturdays and Sundays sponsored by Pradeep Perrera?s ?Delmar Tea.?
