Bze City fans missing out on Smart Mundialito 13 & Under

SportsBze City fans missing out on Smart Mundialito 13 & Under

Take it from one who knows, folks, there is a golden opportunity being lost each Saturday at the MCC Grounds where the Smart 13 & Under Mundialito football tournament is featuring a bunch of excited kids from all across the City as well as some from Ladyville and Hattieville.

The Belize City primary schools football competition is also ongoing, but those games are played between 1:00 and 4:00 each week day afternoon, when most parents are busy working. On Saturdays, the Mundialito features many of the same players; most of the star strikers from primary school are also performing on the Mundialito teams.

The Mundialito games are 20-minute halves, and 5 games are played each Saturday, from 11:00 in the morning until around 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon. Our future stars are right there in action. Some are still too small to make an impact on the games, but they are still playing their hearts out, and they are a joy to watch. You’re missing out, city fans and families. Come out and support the kids at the MCC on Saturday; there is no gate charge.

In Week 7 action on Saturday, November 10, Brown Bombers and City Boys Junior played to a 0-0 draw. Young Stars drew 1-1 with Third World; Marquis Conorquie shook the net for Thrid World, while Uriel Correa equalized for Young Stars. United Rangers clipped Ladyville Japan, 2-nil, with both goals, one a penalty, coming from Tyreque Ciego. Jane Usher and Ladyville Jaguars battled to a 0-0 stalemate. And in the last game, St. John Vianney and Hattieville ended deadlocked at 1-1, with Jalen Babb hitting the target for St. John Vianney, while Kenyon Lewis split the uprights for Hattieville.

With a single round-robin among 10 teams (9 regular season games for each team), there are only 2 more weeks of games before the semifinal knockout playoffs involving the top 4 teams. This Saturday’s schedule features some important match-ups in the race for the playoffs. Only Brown Bombers are sure of a spot in the semifinals.
