Week 2 of BDFA Firms Basketball Tournament

The Belize District Basketball Association (BDBA) Firms Tournament 2013 is well under way, with Week 2 games played over the weekend, 3 on Friday and 3 more on Saturday night at Birds Isle.

In the opener on Friday night, Belize City Council won, 62-59, over Courts. Leading City Council were Kenroy Usher 17 pts 7 rebs, Cordel Gonzalez, Jr. 11 pts, Ian Ferrera 9 pts, Leon Williams 8 pts 12 rebs, and Greg Mahler 5 pts 5 rebs 3 assts; while for Courts, Keith Pollard had 14 pts, Tyrone Anthony 13 pts, Delroy Caliz 10 pts, and Leroy Gentle 9 pts 8 rebs. Next it was Atlantic Bank over Heritage Bank, 65-51. Atlantic Bank was led by Ervin Orosco 30 pts 10 rebs 3 assts 5 stls, and Ian Rene 16 pts 10 rebs 8 stls; while for Heritage Bank, Kurt Burgess had 16 pts 16 rebs, Felix Martinez 16 pts, and Devon Defour 9 pts. And in the nightcap, Belize Bank clipped BWSL, 52-48, behind Terique Gabb 16 pts 4 rebs 3 assts, Marcel Orosco 15 pts 11 rebs, and Chris McGann 6 pts 4 rebs 3 assts. For BWSL, Lindbergh Graham had 14 pts 6 rebs, Kariem Thompson 11 pts 6 rebs 3 stls, and Akeem Trapp 7 pts 5 rebs 5 stls.

Saturday night started with a close one, Customs over BTL, 74-72. Top contributors for Customs were Winston Pratt 29 pts 12 rebs, Kevin Lorenzo 16 pts 7 rebs 3 stls, Oliver Solis 8 pts 3 rebs 3 stls; while for BTL it was Devon Lozano 23 pts, Edward Thompson 13 pts 8 rebs, Jordan Santos 13 pts, and Lennox Cayetano 11 pts 9 rebs. The second game of the night saw Central Health with the 63-46 win over Sprite. Steven Wade 23 pts 7 rebs 5 stls, Neil Nicholson 14 pts 3 rebs 6 stls, Lonnie Trapp 13 pts 3 rebs 3 stls, and Wilfred Richards 4 pts 9 rebs 6 assts led the way for Central Health; while Sprite was led by Darren Neal 16 pts 9 rebs, Troy Williams 14 pts, and Michael Staine 11 pts 10 rebs 4 assts. And in the nightcap, Ready Call prevailed, 52-41, over PUC, with balanced scoring from Aaron Baptist 10 pts 3 rebs, Ensworth Tzul 9 pts 5 rebs 3 stls, Hubert Baptist 8 pts 8 rebs, and Russel Linares 8 pts 4 rebs; while for PUC, Andrew Robateau had 13 pts 7 rebs, Ian Haylock, Jr. 9 pts 5 rebs, Claudio Leal 8 pts 5 rebs, and Kenrick Humes 9 rebs.
