Most of us recognize that women are the pillar of a home. Except for those machos who are still living in the patriarchal era. It is denigrating to see and know how we are using and abusing women especially the working class. The macho-power class haven?t wanted to do something on women?s behalf because that?s the way it benefits them. It?s beneficial for our patriarchal system to continue subjugating women in the lowest stages as slaves and to produce our sprout. Shame on us for continuing looking at women as a sexual object. For continuing looking at our mothers, sisters, cousins etc. as home, house and labourers/slaves. It is time for us to start giving more opportunities to women in our political parties. The last statistics of 2004 state that we have 141,630 females and 139,485 males. With this I believe that the House of Representatives should be represented with at least a 50% by women. The same for senators and ministers. Women are more sensitive to our pain, to our needs and much more when it is one who knows about poorness. Permit me, editor sir, to say that I believe that Yasmine Andrews would do a very good representation if the opportunity would be given to her by the citizens of Cayo. Because apart from knowing what is poorness, she is a mother who also knows about the needs of our children. She can see and feel the sufferings of our abused working class. It is necessary for women to have a representation in the House of Representatives to voice the everlasting cry. Respectfully, (Signed) Clinton Luna Finca Solana Corozal Town
