Sergio Wagner, 25, pleads guilty for prohibited firearm and ammunition

CrimeSergio Wagner, 25, pleads guilty for prohibited firearm and ammunition
For three days police in Dangriga combed the area of Pomona Village in Stann Creek, and were unable to locate two men who managed to elude them after they ran, leaving behind a black bag that contained a sawed-off shot gun and one live 16-gauge cartridge.

The men have been identified as Arlon Castly, 26, and Sergio Wagner, 25, both of Pomona Village in the Stann Creek District.

Police say, however, that the two men turned themselves in late yesterday evening.

According to police, sometime around 4:20 p.m. on September 22, officers from the Stann Creek Formation were on patrol in Pomona Village when they saw two men acting suspiciously.

Late this evening, both men appeared in the Dangriga Magistrate’s Court, where they were charged with keeping prohibited firearm and keeping unlicensed ammunition.

However, Wagner decided to take the rap, and he pleaded guilty to both charges.

The magistrate accepted his guilty plea and Wagner was sentenced to three years for the prohibited firearm and one year for the unlicensed firearm.

His sentences are to run consecutively, which means that Wagner will be spending the next four years in jail.

The charges against Castly were withdrawn.
