CrimeCharles McKoy, 24, charged for shooting the Murray brothers
Today in the Magistrate’s Court, before Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie, Charles McKoy, 24, a mechanic of Mile 1½ Western Highway, appeared to answer charges in connection with an early morning shooting that took place on Freetown Road on Saturday, July 24, 2010.

McKoy is believed to have been the shooter in the Saturday morning incident. Police say that Alexander Austin Murray, 16; Alton Murray, 24; Glenford Martinez, 24; and Michael Stevens, 24, all mechanics, were traveling in a black four-door Pontiac car, L/P C-34025, on Freetown Road when, upon arriving in front of Korea Electronics, a black F-150 pickup truck blocked their way. Then a blue-green Astro van came from behind, and someone from inside the Astro van fired several shots at the car, injuring Alexander Austin Murray and Alton Murray.

At 1:42 p.m. on the 24th July 2010, Alexander Austin Murray died at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital while undergoing treatment.

McKoy was charged with six separate charges: the murder of Alexander Austin Murray, attempted murder of Glenford Martinez, use of deadly means of harm against Alton Murray, dangerous harm against Alton Murray, aggravated assault against Glenford Martinez and aggravated assault against Michael Stevens.

He was represented by attorney Arthur Saldivar. There was no plea taken because of the nature of the offenses, and no bail was offered. McKoy was remanded until August 27, 2010.
