Edwin “Drive” Flowers and Brandon Smith have been jointly charged for the murder of Randy Coye, which took place back in October, 2009. Both men were released twice for lack of evidence connecting them to the murder, for which they were jointly charged with Deshawn Mena, Leon Gray and Kenroy Humes.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Cheryl-Lynn Vidal, has brought back the charge against them for a third time.
Both men were freed of the charge two times before in Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb-McKenzie’s court room because she believed that the prosecution could not provide sufficient evidence to link them to the crime. Their arrest this time comes as result of an appeal of the Magistrate’s Court decision by the DPP in the Supreme Court.
The apartment where Flowers was found belongs to Stephen Flowers and Kayla Sutherland; these two were brought into Magistrate’s Court for the offense of “harboring a criminal” today. Both pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail of $2,500 each.
They are expected to return back to court on February 9, 2011.
