Laborer’s hand chopped off by other laborer

GeneralLaborer’s hand chopped off by other laborer

ESPERANZA, Cayo District, Sat. June 13, 2020– During an argument at about 12:30 this morning at a house on Meduggi Street in Esperanza, the right hand of Isaiah Estrada, 31, a laborer of Esperanza, was amputated at the wrist, by a man known to him as Shane Leal, 32, who also inflicted chop wounds to his (Estrada’s) head.

Estrada had chopped Leal on his arm, but the wounds he inflicted on Leal were relatively minor compared to what he had suffered.

Estrada was taken to the Western Regional Hospital, where he was admitted in a serious but stable condition.

Police said that they went to the hospital, where they saw Estrada with chop wounds in his head and his hand amputated.

They then went to the house where the assault took place, and they met Shane Kenrick Leal, 32, also a laborer of Esperanza, who told them that he chopped Estrada in self-defense.

Leal told police that he was in his house sleeping at about 12:30 this morning when he was awakened by someone calling him. He got out of bed, took his machete, opened his door and went to the gate to see who had called him, and saw a woman, his neighbor, and Estrada standing by his gate.

He told police that the woman accused him of shaking her gate and disturbing her rest at night. An argument arose between Leal, and the woman and Estrada. Leal told police that Estrada then took out his machete and swung at him.

Leal told police that he felt pain on his right arm and on his nose after being chopped, and he then swung his own machete at Estrada, severing his hand and injuring his head.

Leal told police that he swung at Estrada because he, Estrada, swung at him first, and he thought that Estrada was going to kill him.

Police have begun an investigation into the chopping incident. They found Estrada’s severed hand on the scene, along with a machete and a pistol.

So far, no arrests have been made.
