ORANGE WALK, Tues. May 20, 2025
A well-known driver for the Belize Family Court lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Tuesday, May 20.
Raymond Belgrave, 53, of Belize City, was reportedly heading towards Orange Walk Town in a government-issued Foton pickup around 11:30 a.m. that Tuesday, when, between Miles 51 and 52 on the Philip Goldson Highway, as he was approaching a roundabout, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which swerved to the right side of the road and hit a fence.
It is believed that the pickup flipped, toppled over a fence, clipped it, and then landed in a nearby open lot belonging to Benny’s Store.
Police who went to the scene found the pickup with its front bumper damaged and a broken windshield. Inside the truck was the motionless body of Belgrave, who apparently perished instantly due to the severity of the crash.
His body was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A postmortem exam is to be conducted.
