The Belize National Cricket Association (BNCA) is pleased to inform you that the Belize Rural High School in Double Head Cabbage hosted a high school cricket competition today, Thursday, May 18, on the cricket field in Bermudian Landing, starting at 9:30 a.m. Teams participating were Edward P. Yorke High School, Tubal Training Center, Ladyville Technical High School, and Belize Rural High School.
The president of the BNCA, Doctor Roy Young was the scheduled guest speaker at the opening ceremony starting at 9:00 a.m. sharp.
According to reports received this evening, Belize Rural High School came in first, Tubal Training Center was 2nd, and Edward P. Yorke 3rd. Most runs scored was by Jayvan Anthony with 40 runs, and Jayvaughn Dawson took 8 wickets. Each of these players was awarded a new cricket bat and $50.00. This $100.00 was donated by an anonymous person who is a lover of cricket.
A big Thank You to Mr. Ison Charles, the chief umpire, who brought the idea to Belize Rural High, and the Cricket Association backed up the initiative. Thanks to all who made the day a most enjoyable and learning experience. One love!
