A church in San Jose, Toledo, was burglarized, and thieves got away with a speaker for the audio system valued at about $200.
Police said that sometime between 9:00 Saturday night and 8:00 Sunday morning, thieves broke into the San Jose Roman Catholic Church and destroyed by fire a gold-colored chalice, the centerpiece of the tabernacle. The speakers were then stolen.
Then on Tuesday, sometime in the night, a thief or thieves burglarized the house of Minister Joy Grant, located in Independence, and got away with over $6,800 worth of goods.
The caretaker of the home reported that about 6:50 Tuesday evening he went to make his regular checks on the house and found that it had been broken into. He went inside and found that electronic items and bottled beverages, totaling $6,834 in value, had been stolen.
Police do not have anyone in custody as yet.
