BELIZE CITY, Mon. Feb. 13, 2023

On Friday, February 10, former PC Elmer Nah returned to the Magistrate’s Court in Belize City, where he was charged for murder (previously an attempted murder charge) for the death of Vivian Ramnarace, who was the third victim of a New Year’s Eve shooting that claimed the lives of her husband and brother-in-law, Jon and David Ramnarace.

Nah appeared before Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman to face four additional charges—a murder charge for the death of Vivian Ramnarace, and attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and wounding charges in connection with the shooting of Yemi Alberto, David’s girlfriend.

On New Year’s Eve, Alberto and the three murder victims were at the residence of Jon and Vivian in the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan when a gunman suspected to be Nah entered the yard and shot Jon and David, and afterwards fired shots at Vivian and Yemi. The brothers died at the murder scene, while Vivian passed away 15 days later.

Nah faced unrelated charges when he appeared in court along with his wife, Epephania Caliz, and his brother-in-law, a police constable who is a part of the GI3, Manuel Caliz, in connection with the discovery of 135 rounds of .223 Remington live rounds and four 5.56 caliber live rounds of ammunition in a vehicle Nah was driving two days after in the Bladen drug plane landing in November of 2021.

Due to the nature of the offenses, bail was denied and the trio will return to court on March 3.
