CrimeHome invasion in the city – couple held up and robbed

A couple was held up and robbed in their home by two thieves, who got away with over $6,000 in goods. The incident occurred about 8:00 Monday evening, on Partridge Street.

Homeowner Edison Gabourel, 24, reported to police that he and his girlfriend were at home watching television when suddenly two men came into their house through the front door, which was open. One of the two robbers was armed with a pistol, which he pointed at the couple, who were ordered to lie on the floor.

The second robber then looted the house. He stole electronic items, cash and jewelry, including a gold ring with a diamond stone valued at $1,000, which Gabourel’s wife was wearing, all of which totaled $6,150.00 in value.

The robbers then ran out of the house. The alarm was raised and police went to the scene, but the thieves had escaped.

The police remind the public that it is an offense to be found in possession of stolen goods, or items believed to be obtained illegally.

Anyone who has information that could assist police with this investigation is urged to contact the nearest police station, or 0800- 922- TIPS.
