The No Limit Over-35 masters and the Hydro Yabra Over-50 veterans won the Belize Basketball Federation championship finals at the Belize City Civic Center on Sunday evening, November 24.

In Game 1, No Limit dominated the Mayan Man masters, 73-53, as Greg “Chippy” Rudon struck five times from outside the circle for 23 pts to lead 16-13 in the 1st quarter and 38-31 at the half. Darwin “Puppy” Leslie followed suit twice from outside the arc for 16 pts, and Brandon Rogers drained in a trey to lead 53-38 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Kevin Domingo also hit a long trey for 9 pts, Paul Swasey scored 3 pts, and Robert Ferguson threw in a bucket for the winners.

Mayan Man’s Earl “Bolo” Johnson struck once from outside the arc for 14 pts, Sheldon Williams posted 11 pts, and Doug Penland shot 7 pts. Rico Black struck twice from outside the circle, as he and Zahir Harris scored 6 pts each. William Black also shot a trey for 5 pts, and Shamir Ogaldez added 4 pts.

In Game 2, the Over-50 finals, Hydro Yabra triumphed, 48-30, over the Ballers for Life, led by Vince “Post” Lamb (Estrada) who struck twice from outside the circle for 12 pts to lead 13-5 in the first quarter. Ian “AC” Augustine followed suit from outside the arc for 13 pts to lead 21-16 at the half. Marlon “Snake” Villanueva also shot a trey to put up 7 pts, and Byron ”Shackles” Flowers and Cassian “Russian” Flowers put up 5 pts apiece to lead 35-23 in the 3rd quarter. Angus ”Walla” Cherrington scored 4 pts, and Leroy Forbes threw in a bucket.

James Saunders led the Ballers for Life with 14 pts, Clement Palacio netted 4 pts, and Calbert Quilter and Emory Bennett both struck from outside the arc for 3 pts each. Anse Martinez and Andrew Robateau chipped in 2 pts apiece.

The championship teams each won 2 cases of Belikin Beer, while the sub-champions won one case of beer per team. Team trophies and medals will be distributed at an awards ceremony at a later date.
