THE WEEK IN INTEROFFICE BASKETBALL

SportsTHE WEEK IN INTEROFFICE BASKETBALL

In the nightcap, ?Atlantic Bank Ltd.? lost their second game in a row, this time to ?Universal Seahawks?, by the score of 71-57. ?Atlantic Bank? entered the game on a down note following their loss to non-contender ?Maya Airways?, who with only five available players were able to put a major hurting on them on Sunday last.

Kenrick Samuels of the ?Seahawks? played an exceptional all around game, totaling 27 pts 9 rebs 3 assts and 4 stls, while ?Atlantic Bank? point guard Tyrone Edwards had 23 pts 9 rebs 4 assts and 2 stls in a losing effort.

There will be no games tonight, but on Sunday morning 4 games are scheduled to be played, with ?MBE/GPO Elites? trying to make a late season push for a wild card spot against ?San Cas Seven Seas?. In Game Two, ?Young?s Eng/NDFB? will go to war against ?BDF?. In the third game of the day ?Port of Belize Ltd.? will take their unblemished record against a desperate ?Advance Advertising? team which needs to win two of its remaining games, if it has any intention to see post-season play. In the final match-up of the day, in a game which has no bearing on the playoffs, ?Belize Bank Ltd.? will try to win their first game of the 2005 campaign when they face the (2-3) ?Angelus Press Ltd.?

On Wednesday night ?FCIB Diamonds?, with their 49-45 win over ?Complex Bombers?, inched their way closer to post-season play. They, however, are in a very unenviable position as they must now face and overcome their worst fears – that of the fine tuned and well oiled machinery of division leading ?Mesop/Guardian Bombers? (5-0). It is do or die for ?FCIB Diamonds? come Monday night at the City Center.

In the nightcap played on Wednesday, Division I leaders, ?Mesop/Guardian Bombers?, eliminated any hopes ?Central Bank? had of making the post season by defeating them soundly by the score of 69-46. The ?Bombers? displayed superb quickness and agility with the ball being played primarily in the air. Bernard Felix (7 pts 7 assts 4 stls) at one point in the game dished out 4 consecutive alley-oops to big man Bijon Griffith (17 pts 8 rebs). Scoring on the ?Bombers? side was so contagious that even the well-known Brian ?Yellowman? Audinett was able to get in on the scoring, totaling 4 pts in the win. The ?Jabiru?s? seemed slow-footed and, if not for Marlon Garnett (10 pts), the result would have been even more horrendous.
