PoliticsUDP says all 31 standard bearers have been nominated

BELIZE CITY, Tues. Sept. 8, 2020– In a press release issued on Tuesday afternoon, the ruling United Democratic Party informed the public that all 31 of its current standard bearers have been nominated for the upcoming general elections.

The release states, “The constituencies of Corozal Southwest and Dangriga, whose convention had been pending, will see the endorsement of Hon. Dr. Angel Campos and Hon. Frank “Papa” Mena respectively.”

The release goes on to say, “The Pickstock constituency, left vacant with the departure of Hon. Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington, will see the endorsement of Hon. Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez.”

This slate of candidates has been finalized just in time for the campaign leading up to the upcoming general elections, which is scheduled to take place in November of this year.

The major rift between Frank “Papa” Mena and the UDP committee in Dangriga seems to have been mended, and long-standing representative for Corozal Southwest, Dr. Campos, will maintain his ranks in the UDP.

Hon. Anthony “Boots” Martinez, after serving 3 terms in the Port Loyola division, will put his plans of retirement on the backburner and take a swing at Pickstock.

The release ends by saying, “The party now stands fully united to once again make history and become the first party to claim 4 successive victories.”
