Teenager remanded to prison on attempted murder charge

CrimeTeenager remanded to prison on attempted murder charge

A Belize City teenager was arraigned on charges of attempted murder, wounding and use of deadly means of harm when he appeared this morning before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, who remanded him to prison until his next court date on August 29.

Tevin Palmer, 18, an unemployed of 61 King Street, did not have to enter a plea, because the offences for which he is charged are indictable and will be tried in the Supreme Court.

Police are alleging that Palmer attempted to murder Shawn Fisher, 21, a carpenter who was shot on July 5.

According to police, Fisher was standing on Dean Street, facing Kick Down Fence, a popular Chinese fried chicken shop, when a person he recognized as Tevin Palmer approached him.

Palmer was armed with a handgun, and he fired at Fisher, hitting him twice.

Fisher sustained gunshot injuries to his left abdomen and to his left buttocks.
