GeneralPolice destroy weed worth over a million dollars

BELMOPAN, Fri. Jan. 22, 2016–Police confiscated 22 pounds of marijuana in the Toledo and Cayo Districts during anti-drug operations on Wednesday and Friday.

The high-grade weed they found in Cayo reportedly has an estimated street value of $33,000; it is sold on the local market at $1,500 per pound.

At the time when the drug was found no one was in the area, and so no arrests have been made in connection with the discovery.

At 4:00 this morning, Punta Gorda police went to an area 3 miles off the Columbia Famers Road, west of Colombia, where they found a marijuana plantation containing 1,250 marijuana plants ranging from 6 inches to 3 feet in height. No one was found in the area and the plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire.

A report to Amandala is that the average yield per tree is a pound of marijuana; thus the street value of the uprooted plants is $1,500,000.
