The release said that, so far, Del Monte has not been notified of any illnesses associated with the product, but 62,242 cases of the product carrying a specific code and date are being recalled due to under-processing which could lead to life-threatening illness if consumed.

The US Food and Drug Administration announced on December 12 that the products being recalled are those with the UPC code 24000 02770, and that have the following “best if used by” dates: August 14, 2021, August 15, 2021, August 16, 2021, September 3, 2021, September 4, 2021, September 5, 2021, September 6, 2021, September 22, 2021, and September 23, 2021.

Del Monte listed 12 international countries, including Belize, that may have received the product batch. Distributors, retail outlets, and consumers are encouraged that if they have the products with the indicated UPC code and the listed “best if used by” dates, they should return the product to the local distributor or the nearest public health office.

Consumers can also report any retail establishments that continue to market these products to the public, the release said.
