SAN NARCISO, Corozal District, Thurs. Sept. 29, 2022

Myron Palencia, 35, a truck driver of Buena Vista Village who was being sought by police for stabbing his ex-common-law wife on Independence Day and who is believed to have been attempting to flee the country, has been captured by police and has been criminally charged.

On Independence Day last Wednesday (September 21), Palencia went to the home of his ex-girlfriend, Kenya Villamil, 35, in San Narciso, Corozal District while she wasn’t there and stole a bicycle that belonged to her. At around 11:00 o’clock that night, Villamil, who was trying to regain possession of the bicycle, was told by Palencia to meet him behind the San Narciso Polyclinic.

When Villamil went to that location to retrieve the bicycle, however, Palencia, who was reportedly in the company of a younger relative, proceeded to stab her 14 times – six times in her neck, and once near her heart, as well as on various parts of her body.

Palencia and Villamil had been in a relationship for 4 years and lived together. During that time, the couple’s relationship became an abusive one, and the relationship ended 8 months ago.

Luckily, Villamil survived the attempt on her life, and is slowly recovering. On Wednesday, September 28, Palencia was caught by police and was formally arrested and charged with attempted murder.
